Bone Hook &
Knuckle assembly

Deer bone hook was found at a well known shelter site in Kentucky.

Bone knuckles are from the Cumberland River area in Davidson Co. TN and are personal finds of D. Rainey. They show the different stages of hook manufacturing and are a great examples with the cutting and shaping evident for study.

Not sure exactly what this one is but it does have use wear and polish on tip area. Looks like the Indian may have originally intended to make the deer antler into a spear/atl-atl tip but left it's lenght to be use in another fashion. Nice study piece with a lot of incising and barb like tip.

 This fine 1000 + year old FL. relic was found on the famous Tick Island site. Bone artifacts such as this have been known to be used as spears points as well as hair pins, as recorded in early Spanish accounts. This specimen has a perfectly preserved, highly polished surface, with an impeccable tip and base.

This is a huge Turkey bone awl that has excellent polish and use-wear. It has some rodent chew at the base edge but does not detract from appearance. Good old shelter find with great patination and a killer tip ! One of the larger intact authentic pieces you will see.
